Ellen Mary Dunne, age 80, of Ellsworth, died Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Ellsworth Care Center following a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Ellen Mary Dunne, age 80, of Ellsworth, died Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Ellsworth Care Center following a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Ellen was born Feb. 16, 1933, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Harry and Catherine (Seiler) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to James L. Dunne, to which daughters Maureen and Colleen were born. She worked many years as a registered nurse for Dr. Frederick Klaas in Ellsworth. Ellen enjoyed sewing, gardening, and playing bridge.
Ellen is survived by one sister, Evelyn Amdahl; one brother, James Schmidt; daughter Maureen (Tom) Quinn of Elburn, Ill., with their three sons, TJ, Brennan, and Connor; daughter Colleen (William) Dumond of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., with their three girls, Katie, Abbey, and Maggie.
She was preceded by her husband, James, in 2010.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ellen will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 264 S. Grant St., Ellsworth. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
