Margaret Elizabeth Hewitt, 94, formerly of Plum City, Wis., and a recent resident of Fairview Seminary Home, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.
Margaret Elizabeth Hewitt, 94, formerly of Plum City, Wis., and a recent resident of Fairview Seminary Home, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.
She was born on July 14, 1917, in Red Wing, to Benjamin and Susie (Bryant) Mann. She worked many years as a grocery clerk for Steiner Brothers Grocery. On July 5, 1935, she married Willie E. Firl and he passed away Jan. 2, 1969. On March 31, 1973, she married LaVerne "Chuck" Hewitt and he passed away June 19, 2003.
She was a member of the Ono Methodist Church.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Joyce Merimonti of Ellsworth, Wis.; four grandsons, Danny (Mary), Bruce (Kammy), and Jerry (Judy) Plein, all of Red Wing, and Steven (Jennifer) Merimonti of Grapevine, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Millie Retzloff of Osseo, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, and her great friend Carol Omsberg of Plum City.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her daughter and son-in-law Albertha and Harold Plein; five brothers and six sisters.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth.
