Friday at the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival


The community’s 150th anniversary was celebrated during the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival this past weekend. A sign in East End Park, to which the festival was relocated after having previously been held at the Pierce County Fairgrounds, proclaimed the occasion. Other information on the sign about games and movies at Summit Park was outdated; that event has been rescheduled from June 16 to this Sunday.

  • The community’s 150th anniversary was celebrated during the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival this past weekend.   • Jack Hines of Hines Auction Service in Ellsworth visited with a vendor under the big tent on CrossCut Street during the local Cheese Curd Festival Friday. Hines was a member of the festival’s organizing committee and is chairman of the community’s 150th anniversary committee. He was also announcer for many of the activities at the past weekend’s festival.
  • Contestants who grew beards for the special contest in conjunction with the community’s 150th anniversary celebration had their photos taken Friday during the Cheese Curd Festival. A pitchfork and a 1962 centennial book were used as props by this contestant.
  • Runners in the short version of the Cheese Curd Fun Run headed down Wall Street in East Ellsworth Friday evening. A long version the following morning was also part of the local Cheese Curd Festival celebration this past weekend. Heather Flock of Fitness Influence organized the runs.
  • ”Stilletto” played music under the big tent at the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival Friday. “Jessie’s Girl” was one of the band’s selections.
  • The D.A.R.E. food tent was one of multiple food stands set up during the Cheese Curd Festival. Pictured is D.A.R.E. Officer Steve Albarado and Chloe Spriggle from Ellsworth and a National D.A.R.E. Student Representative.
  • This gentleman was enjoying an ear of corn that the American Legion Post 204 were selling Friday.
