Sunday at the Cheese Curd Festival

  • Organizers of The Faces of Diabetes event, set for Saturday, July 21, headed down the Main Street route for the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival parade Sunday. The banner they carried indicated the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 21 at Vino in the Valley.
  • 2009 Miss Ellsworth Tiffany Weiss waved to spectators as she rode in the back of a pickup truck during Sunday’s Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival parade. The parade followed Main Street from the west business district to east end.
  • Clowns distributed treats as they made their way along the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival parade route Sunday. The Ellsworth Funsters had their colorful clown vehicle, complete with speakers for music, in the parade.
  • Danny Dunn’s in east end had one of the largest units in the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival parade Sunday. A semi pulled a flatbed trailer, atop which patrons from the establishment sat at tables and went for a ride.
  • Young contestants filled their faces when the cheese curd eating contest was held as part of Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival activities Sunday. A camera crew from the “Discover Wisconsin” TV show recorded the action.
  • Ben Ries, left, was one of the winners of the beard growing contest, a special 150th anniversary attraction of the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival. Ries, the husband of local Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sarah Ries, while Jack Hines, right, took honors in another category. Paul Bauer, center, of the Ellsworth Co-op Creamery presided for the announcement.
  • A monitor and microphone were available when Ellsworth Idol Karaoke was presented under the big tent during the local Cheese Curd Festival Sunday.
  • Charlie Potter of Hudson on work for his latest chainsaw art creation. Potter had a display set up the entire weekend of bears, eagles, owls and more.
  • Judy Snow was Miss Ellsworth of 1962.
  • Karen Schumaker with assist from her husband were counting up the votes for the beard contests that were won by Ben Ries and Jack Hines.
