Stolen van chase yesterday covers two states, driver arrested

-- The driver of a van that was reportedly stolen, led St. Croix sheriff's deputies and on a 19-mile chase early Monday before the vehicle was eventually stopped by Minnesota authorities on a rural road, south east of Woodbury. A man was taken into custody.

Night blaze guts north side River Falls business
Flames swept through and engulfed the back shop of St. Croix Sport just off Hwy. 35N. in the town of Troy shortly after 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28. The fire caused hundreds of thousands of dollars damage to snowmobiles, snow blowers, ATVs, chain saws, and commercial lawn-care equipment. Some was inventory being repaired for customers. It took 26 River Falls firefighters, with two engines, a water tender and a ladder truck almost an hour to control the fire.

UPDATE: Driver cited after River Falls bypass crash
Two drivers were seriously hurt and had to be extricated following a near head-on crash just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, on the Hwy. 65/35 bypass a half mile south of the East Division Street. Afterward the bypass was closed until early afternoon. River Falls police have cited one of the drivers, David Kirscht, 24, Garfield, Minn., for inattentive driving and operating left of center.
