Mixed media at Galleries, oil painting classes begin
A series of exhibitions featuring a mixed media installation by Mary Bergs, Minneapolis; mixed media printmaking by CathyJean Clark, Neillsville; oil paintings by Tom McGregor, St. Paul; ceramics by Ursula Hargens, Minneapolis; acrylics on panel by Leslie Pilgrim, Mendota Heights, Minn.; journal drawings and watercolors by Tara Sweeney, St. Paul; and a group exhibition featuring work in a range of media by 11 local artists who participated in a series of seminars during 2012 focusing on the role of art and sustainability will be on view through Feb. 10 in The Galleries of The Phipps Center for the Arts.

Meanwhile, Pierce County sheriff's deputies were largely reliant on the county's fleet of highway maintenance trucks to accomplish anything early Tuesday.
