Gerdes new accounting manager
Susan Gerdes started last month as the accounting manager for the Pierce County Highway Department. She succeeds Laurie Lundgaard, who retired Monday after 26 years with the county, 22 of those at Highway.

Where's the Chamber? It's at M&I Bank building
The Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce office has relocated to the front upstairs area of the M&I Bank building in the village’s west business district. The facility, previously occupied by the Pierce County Job Center, provides the office with more space, an indoor entry and windows. The chamber was most recently headquartered in the Compass Financial Services structure’s quarters once housing Ritzinger Optometric Clinic. Chamber Assistant Laurel Cox said Friday the office is the place for vendors to register for the Ellsworth Farmers Market later this summer.

Habitat opens ReStore, seeks volunteers
St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity opened its ReStore April 10, at 901B N. Knowles Ave., in New Richmond. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with other merchandise drop-off times available by appointment.

River Falls Area Hospital recently upgraded to a new MRI system that will provide physicians with higher quality detailed pictures of a patient’s body. AN MRI scan is a test which takes digital pictures of certain parts of the body which are used to help evaluate a wide range of conditions, including stroke, musculoskeletal, heart disease and breast cancer.
