January’s top students

 January’s top students January Students of the Month at Ellsworth High School have been announced. Freshman are: Tyler Marson, nominated by Mr. Keller in Mathematics, Marson works very hard in class and is excelling in Math; Maddie Gardas, nominated by Mrs. Moore in English, Gardas is very helpful and positive in class every day. Sophomores are: Jackson Bartlett, nominated by Mrs. Goodman in Science, Bartlett works hard and has a positive outlook on life; Kjisa Bayer nominated by Mrs. Goodman in Science. Bayer works hard every day and has a great attitude. Juniors are: Joe Henning, nominated by Mr. Hall in History, Henning is an excellent student and does excellent work; Jackie Jean, nominated by Mr. Hall in History, Jean has excellent grades and has great participation in class. Seniors are: Rachel Anderson, nominated by Mr. Olson in Chemistry, Anderson sets a good example for all the other students in class and remains positive every day; Nick Oeltjen, nominated by Mr. Olson in Chemistry, Oeltjen helps out in class every day. He is very supportive of his classmates.

Family sponsors

Family sponsors The fifth grade class at St. Francis School has sponsored families for the Pierce County Gift Box Program for several years. This year, the class was challenged by their teachers, Ms. Sandy Hayes and Ms. Ellie Tiedemann, to raise $300. This was in addition to $201 a single student, Zach Hines, had earned by selling items at a local Christmas craft show.

Presidentially fit

Presidentially fit Ellsworth High School Second Quarter Presidential Fitness Award winners have been announced. The following students achieved 85 percent on all five tests at their age range. The tests are: sit-ups, pull ups, sit-n-reach, shuttle run and mile run. Sophomores are: Jackson Bartlett, Michael Boldt, Austin Garavalia, Halle Hatch, Tyler Mueller, Matthew Solyntjes, Jacob Betthauser, Parker Hines, Sarah Langer, Bethany Olson and Shane Smith.

Elmwood’s Winter Olympics captures spirit of Games The spirit of the winter games traveled south to Elmwood Elementary School the past two weeks as pupils in Becky Baier’s and Bev Glaus’s fifth grade classrooms, along with George Klink’s fourth grade, competed in several indoor and outdoor events.

New Broadway musical hits EHS stage March 25-27 The students of Ellsworth High School will present the very new Broadway musical hit “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Thursday-Saturday, March 25, 26 and 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth High School. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students.

Top rated musicians

Top rated musicians Plum City Middle School musicians went to Pepin on Feb. 20 to compete in the Dunn-St. Croix South annual Solo and Ensemble contest. The students competed in vocal and instrumental events. Out of 29 musical events, the group received 21 I’s, three II’s and had four critique only scores, including a I rating in a class “B” vocal ensemble.
