Continuing a winning streak which stretches back to the end of the regular season, the Spring Valley High School baseball team upset No. 8 ranked and top-seeded Alma/Pepin 3-1 to win the WIAA Division 4 regional tournament Thursday.
Only one of these two state finalists from last year was going to leave Brown Field still alive in the WIAA Division 2 regional baseball tournament. And that turned out to be Ellsworth in a 4-1 decision over Pierce County rival Prescott Wednesday.
Ellsworth and Prescott's prep baseball teams will meet for the third and final time this season, a rubber match which will decide not only the season series but the WIAA Division 2 regional tournament final as well.
