Wisconsin Sports -- The Marquette University men’s basketball team has lost its third and fourth player this month. Starting sophomore forward Juan Anderson was granted his release yesterday, saying he wanted to find a school that’s closer to his home in Oakland California. And this morning starting guard Vander Blue announced he was entering the NBA draft.
Wisconsin Sports -- Shooting 23 percent from the floor and hitting just 3-of-24 three-point shots was enough to end the season for Marquette. The Golden Eagles were shut down by Syracuse’s 2-3 zone in a 55-39 loss Saturday.
Wisconsin Sports -- Everybody seems to like it when two teams from the same conference meet in the NCAA tournament with a Final Four slot up for grabs – everybody but the coaches. When Marquette takes on Syracuse today it will be the ninth time that has happened in a regional final.
Wisconsin Sports -- The last time Butler and Marquette squared off, it took a last-second shot for the Bulldogs to pull out a 72-71 thriller. Both teams square off today in the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. Tip-off is at 6:45 p.m. at Rupp Arena.
Wisconsin Sports -- March Madness begins today for the first of two Wisconsin teams in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament. Marquette, the Number-three seed in the East Region, will play 14th-seeded Davidson around 2:10 this afternoon. It’ll be shown on TruTV, a Turner-owned channel that many cable systems picked up two years ago when it started televising NCAA games.
