Weather extremes only problem in 2010 Pierce County Fair
With weather extremes from rain, heat and sunshine, the 2010 Pierce County fair saw some variation in scheduling and attendance. With a few changes, the fair otherwise went according to plan.

Derby Night
It was Derby Night at the Pierce County fair Saturday evening. A capacity crowd packed the grandstand and despite frequent rain and wet grounds, the derby came off as compact and full-size cars competed for a purse of over $4,600.

Saturday at the Fair
Mother Nature threw a wrench into events at the Pierce County Fair Saturday as the horse pull scheduled for 10 a.m. was cancelled. The truck pull scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday was rescheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Friday at the Fair
An early morning of heavy rain not only left puddle and mud for Pierce County Fairgoers to avoid, but it also postponed the truck pull until Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. and canceled the annual horse pull altogether. That left the grounds pretty quiet Friday night except for the familiar sounds of auctioneer Jack Hines and the 4-H/FFA Livetsock Auction in the Arena Barn where Bay City's Paige Nelson smiles as she displays her beef cow.

Beating the heat at the Pierce County Fair
Pierce County Fairgoers, both animals and humans, had to find ways to stay cool as temperatures soared into the mid-90s with dew points in the 70s Thursday. These llamas had a pair of fans to help them. Friday morning's storms helped to cool things down without adding much to Tuesday's storm damage throughout the county thankfully, and fairgoers can hopefully look forward to a sunny weekend.

127th Pierce County Fair now underway
The 127th Pierce County Fair officially opens Thursday in Ellsworth but unofficially opens Wednesday evening with the 4-H talent shows and open class judging.
