Melvin and Geraldine Nielsen celebrate 50th
Melvin and Geraldine Nielsen of River Falls Township will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner and dance on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the American Legion Hall, 701 N Main St. The dinner will be from 4-7 p.m., with a dance from 7-11 p.m. The event will be hosted by the couple’s three children, Jeff Nielson, JoAnne Brager and Janet Landgraf.

EMS at Have-a-Heart
On Jan. 12, the River Falls EMS visited Have A Heart Inc. to meet clients and give tours of an ambulance. “This was a great experience for both organizations, we were able to inform the EMS more on dealing with people with disabilities and they were able to make our clients more comfortable with River Falls EMS staff and an ambulance,” said Amanda Petersen of Have A Heart Inc.

Blaze destroys rural RF house

She won for Roman
There was a new winner at the tractor pull at the annual Harvest Fest held recently at Kusilek’s Hillside Farm. Janice Pechacek drove for the first time and took first place against eight experienced pullers, including her husband. Her father, the late local farmer Roman Pechacek, died in November due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. His birthday would have been Aug. 30 and Janice wanted to honor his memory by participating in something Roman loved, so she wore his “John Deere” pulling shirt, his “John Deere” cap and drove his John Deere tractor in the event he loved.

Have-a-Heart bike run June 25
Have A Heart, an organization offering respite services for children and adults and more, located in the town of River Falls at W10356 Hwy. 29, plans a fundraiser on Saturday, June 25. The “Have A Heart Bike Run” is sponsored by the St. Croix Valley Riders, and will begin at Have A Heart and end at the Gas-Lite Tavern in Ellsworth.
