CANNON FALLS -- Bright sunshine and 500 Minnesotans stood ready to greet President Barack Obama for a mid-day “town hall” meeting in a park today, the first stop on what many political observers say is his first re-election campaign swing.
Steve Gunderson, Former Wisconsin Congressman and current CEO of the national Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C., will be the keynote speaker at the St. Croix Valley Foundation’s annual Legacy Celebration in Stillwater on June 15.

River Falls’ senior fullback Nick Zimmerman rushed for 255 yards and four touchdowns as the Wildcats picked up their first win of the season, 30-12, over Ellsworth Friday night at Ramer Field in River Falls.
Zimmerman scored on runs of 24 and 54 in the first half to help stake River Falls to a 14-6 halftime lead and added a pair of 12 yard touchdown runs in the second half as the Wildcats pulled away.
It' quite an accomplishment for a school to win one state championship in a year. River Falls won two in one day Saturday.
The St. Croix Valley Fusion won their second straight state girls' hockey title in Madison Saturday afternoon, while the River Falls High School gymnastics team won its second championship in four years at the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids a few hours later.
Both teams will be welcomed back to River Falls with a parade on Main Street Sunday at noon.
