The Wisconsin Historical Society and the Wisconsin Council for Local History has notified the Pierce County Historical Association (PCHA) it has received one of 30 mini-grants awarded to Wisconsin local historical societies in 2012.
The next Summer Cruze-In car event 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 will include a unique car that hasn’t been seen in River Falls for at least 20 years -- not since the local artist who painted it, Harvey Probst, died.
One month since the release of the 1940 U.S. Federal Census, the Community Indexing Project has announced that over 41 million census records have been indexed by over 101,000 volunteer indexers and arbitrators.
The St. Croix Valley Genealogical Society announced its participation in the 1940 US Census Community Project. The society is encouraging local volunteers to help make the 1940 U.S. Census easier to search for everyone. This unique crowd-sourcing project will make the 135 million individuals found on tens of thousands of pages of the 1940 U.S. Census searchable online for free. Volunteers are sought to comb the hand-written records and manually type in the names. That process is expected to take months.
