Governor orders flags to half-staff in honor of Cpl. Michael C. Nolen
MADISON -- Flags at Wisconsin National Guard armories, air bases and other facilities across Wisconsin will fly at half-staff Saturday, July 9, in honor of U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Michael C. Nolen of Spring Valley. A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Hudson.

Lions on Ice - Spring Valley Lions Club annual fishing derby
Saturday, February 20 was the date for the Lions Club of Spring Valley annual fishing derby on the Eau Galle Reservoir just north of Spring Valley. Besides the fishing contest, there was plenty of food, sledding, skating and outdoor winter fund on a beautiful sunny day with little or none of the biting wind that's always a chore to deal with when ice fishing.

New heath care center under construction in Spring Valley
Valley Villas, the new assisted living facility for the Spring Valley Health Care Center, is under construction in the Westland Meadows Industrial Park on Spring Valley’s west side. The 20-unit single-story senior apartment building is designed to provide a combination of affordable housing, meals and support services for frail elderly people with long-term supportive health care needs. Common amenities will include a main dining room with kitchen area, a furnished community room, resident business center, resident laundry room, beauty salon, individual storage lockers and incidental public areas, all totaling approximately 19,500 square feet. A lobby, leasing and nurse’s office, and approximately 20 off-street parking spaces will also be included.
