Letter: He apologizes to officer, community for his actions

TO THE EDITOR: To whom it may concern: This is Ronald Scott Reeverts. I understand that I was just in your newspaper due to the result of my appeal. I am very sorry that the appeal took place. I wrote to the appellate attorney and told her to drop the appeal last August.

The main reason I am writing to you is because I am very sorry to Officer Herman Kreig and the entire community for what I put them through because of my selfishness to continue to drink and to drink and drive all of these years. I am currently in an alcohol treatment program here at Chippewa Falls. It is a six-month program for OWI offenders. It has been difficult at times, but I am working on changing my core beliefs and character defects, so when I get home I will not be putting our community in danger any longer.

Again, I am truly sorry for my actions and I would be grateful if you would print my apology so the community knows that I am sorry and accountable for my actions. Also, in Officer Kreig's defense, I was not drunk and my blood test was .06. I hadn't had anything to drink for a couple of hours, so between the rain and those factors, and the fact that when he asked me if I had been drinking I lied and said, no, I hadn't been drinking.

I appreciate your time.
