From Ellsworth to Los Angeles for Roman

Cordero Roman caught the writing bug at an early age.

It started out by writing stories in elementary school. Next, it was poetry. Now, it's the "silver screen" that has caught his attention.

"I love movies," the Ellsworth High School senior said. "To see what you wrote come to life with moving pictures."

Roman is pursing that goal as he will be heading off to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, to study screenwriting in the fall. Before that, Roman will deliver a speech as Class Valedictorian during Graduation Night. The ceremony begins 7 p.m. Friday at the Ellsworth High School Gymnasium.

"It's such an awesome opportunity," he said about his future endeavors. "It's something I've always wanted to pursue."
