Brickner finds Ellsworth medallion

Jake Brickner is pictured receiving a $200 check from Raynee Farrell, co-Chairperson of the Ellsworth Chamber Cheese Curd Festival committee, for finding the Medallion Friday afternoon. Brickner found it in Summit Park.

Jake Brickner found the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival Medallion Friday afternoon, minutes after the fourth clue was released.

The 25-year-old Ellsworth native found it under one of the heavier benches by the north baseball field in Summit Park. Brickner said Friday's search lasted about 15 minutes after wording such as 'up a hill', 'sum it', 'follow the path', 'move your seat' and 'lift' (Brickner had to lift the bench to find it) were used in the fourth clue. He looked twice for it previously.

Brickner said other clues which led him to baseball and Summit were 'hit'  and 'base' in the first clue, 'played the game', and 'sit back, relax, and rest your feet' in the third clue.

This is the second time Brickner found the Festival Medallion. Ten years ago, he found it by the Post Office. For finding the medallion, Brickner received $200.

The following were a complete list of clues:

Celebrate culture while having some fun

Learn more of your neighbors and from where they did come

Diversity makes us the nation we are

Follow these clues and you'll be on par

Clue Number 1

A long snowy winter and a blink of a spring

We've earned our fair weather and the joy it will bring

Like the burst of a pinanta, it could be your hit

Twelve years and counting, keep looking, don't quit

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco and seis

Publico land must be your base

Say "hola" to friends as you look for the peso

The goal is to be "Livin' La Vida Queso"

Clue #2

At the shiny new plant on the village’s east side

Before trees leave and the road gets too wide

Say, “Taco curds, please!” to the girl in the bonnet

Before struggling too much with this odd little sonnet

Are you wearing your button with a curd in a hat?

And a mustache to boot, can you imagine that?

The theme resembles “South of the Border”

Time spent there is not in order

 Clue #3

Hot-dipped curds will earn cheers, no doubt

Enter the contest, but please don’t pout

Because it matters not whether you win or lose

But that you played the game and read the clues

Parking here and parking there

Between the slots you must take care

Sit back, relax, and rest your feet

At ground level you’ll find the treat

Clue Number 4

Up a hill will get you near

Twenty-one or older, you might buy beer

Sum it up; just do the math

One step at a time; follow the path

Get up, get going, and move your seat

A team of two likely won’t get beat

Use some muscle, a lift makes sense

Once it’s found you’ll be less tense
