Bethany Mazur always called 9-year-old Travis Anderson her "little buddy." Mazur was killed in a car accident last summer in Polk County, but her mother, Kim, is carrying on her memory through a scholarship fund for special needs children. Rene Sailer led the Elmwood St. Patrick’s Day parade as grand marshal with her fellow passengers on Saturday, March 19. The parade is a tradition re-engergized by sisters Sandy Wohler, Mary Sailer, Betty Cotts and Deb Crownhart, who revived the green march down Main Street a few years ago. The tradition was originally started by their mother. Families carrying their “coats of arms” partake, as well as green bedecked and bejeweled “Irish for a day” participants. Katie Fuchs is directing “The Brothers Grimm,” a two-act play loosely based on Grimm’s Fairy Tales, which will open Thursday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ellsworth High School auditorium for a three-performance run. The play promises a humorous twist on such classics as “Snow White,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Cinderella,” “Rapunzel” and others. Tickets are on sale at the high school office. (Herald photo by Bill Kirk)
