Mu Daiko to kick off Wide Spot's fifth season

At 7pm on Saturday, Sept. 6, WideSpot Performing Arts will kick off its landmark fifth season with a big bang. Literally! Mu Daiko, the popular Twin Cities-based Japanese taiko (Japanese for “big drum”) drumming ensemble, is sure to pack the house and infuse every soul with the infectious energy of their dramatic, power-packed performance.

With origins based in both traditional Japanese drumming and martial arts-inspired movement, Mu Daiko takes musical influence from rock, jazz and even classical genres. Put it all together and audience members experience a matchless combination of musical precision, physical strength and emotional passion. In other words, this will not be a night to relax. This will be a night to revive!

Get revved up for the final harvest, for the beginning of the school year, for the change of seasons, for Monday! Or just come to have fun, and ring in the opening of WideSpot’s seasonal year.

Mu Diako’s brilliant show filled the house last time they visited, so we highly recommend securing your seat with an early reservation. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased online at, by mail—if postmarked by Monday, September 1, or at the door with an additional $2 transaction fee per ticket. Wine, craft beer, soda, and water are available at the WideSpot cash bar located inside the theater.
