More to see, do at beer garden

By Ann M. Webb

Pierce County Fair Coordinator

Pierce County Fair Coordinator Ann Webb announced new and exciting changes in the beer garden at the premier event of the summer, Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 7-10, the Pierce County Fair!

The beer/wine garden area will be back and better this year! We will be enhancing the beer garden experience this year based off fairgoers’ suggestions from last year’s opening.

Expanded hours are Thursday 4 to 10 p.m., opening earlier at 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with closing at midnight and final opportunity, Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. So stop by the shady beer garden area and take a break during the fair.

Two local products will be added to this year’s beer garden menu, a Leinenkugel’s specialty brew and Capital Amber from Capital Brewing in Madison. Wine lovers will have four wine selections to enjoy from Fetzer Vineyards.

There will be new entertainment options in the beer garden also, offering music on Thursday through Saturday nights. Come for the toe-tapping music of the “Hunyuks” offering “songs and smiles” from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday. Join us for karaoke with “P&S I Love You Karaoke” performing both Friday and Saturdays from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Get bragging rights as the best beer garden singer during the fair.

If singing isn’t your style, but you’d like to take a break from the sun, bean bag games will be set up under the shade for your enjoyment anytime the beer garden is open. Children under 21 are welcome into the beer garden when accompanied by their parent or guardian. Come visit us and enjoy something special.

Please note a fair change since the colorful fair flyer has gone out in the newspapers. Under the Sunday schedule, the fire department parade will NOT be coming through the grandstand and the Gopher State Garden Tractor Pull time has changed from 10 a.m. to noon.
