Longtime Bethel Covenant Church Pastor dies

Pastor David McDowell, longtime Pastor at Bethel Covenant Church in Ellsworth died Saturday at the age of 62. 

He passed away at the Kinnic Nursing Home and Rehabiliation Center in River Falls after battling a brain tumor for 19 years. 

According to his obituary, McDowell was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan and attended Northern Michigan University and North Park Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree.

He started his pastoral career with an internship at Squaw Peak Covenant Church in Phoenix and later became pastor in Warroad, Minn., Albert Lea, Minn., and finally at Bethel.

Pastor David loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, visiting with friends, cooking Italian meals, rooting for the Chicago Bears and hanging out with dog, Cocoa.

He is survived by his wife Diane, four children, three grandchildren and his parents.

Funeral services were Thursday morning at Bethel Covenant Church with burial at the church cemetery.
