Ristow is a surprise salutatorian

Alexander Ristow is looking forward.

"I'm excited for the chance to see and do new things," the Ellsworth High School senior said. "What else is out there besides Ellsworth?"

Ristow will get that opportunity as he is heading to Minnesota-Duluth in the fall to study chemical engineering. His high school years will end Friday night when he gives a speech at graduation because he finished as the class salutatorian.

Ristow explained that for the longest time he was third in his class academically and resigned himself to finishing there.

Imagine his reaction ,when after the last quarter counted for rankings, Ristow improved his ranking by one spot.
