The Roadside is a new business opened late last month by Dean and Nancy Bystrom, and their son Chris, in the building most recently housing Creative Baskets and Gifts along Hwy. 10-63 west of Ellsworth.

Local woman charged with fraud

A 29-year-old Ellsworth woman has been charged with one felony count of fraud against a financial institution for obtaining $23,500 from WESTconsin Credit Union by means of false representation, according to an article in Wednesday’s Eau Claire Leader-Telegram.

The Pierce County Fairgrounds were open and the first night of the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival was underway with the main event the annual truck pull. Saturday's schedule features a a wide variety of activities at the Pierce County Fairgrounds in Ellsworth capped off by the Jo Dee Messina concert at 9 p.m.

State Patrol chopper assists in search for distraught man

Twelve Pierce sheriff's deputies spent six hours searched a rugged wooded area near Lund for a distraught, armed man. The event ended peacefully when the man was taken into custody about 5:45 a.m.

A 23-year-old Ellsworth man resisted arrest after a theft at Speedway in the village Wednesday morning.
FOX-9 (Twin Cities) TV reporter M.A. Rosko visited the Ellsworth Co-op Creamery Wednesday for a profile on the creamery in advance of this weekend’s Cheese Curd Festival. Rosko was at the creamery for about 30 minutes, as she interviewed numerous people who gathered waiting for fresh cheese curds. Rosko also gathered the latest information on cheese curds from Dick Reinhart, owner of Dick’s Fresh Market in River Falls, a supplier of cheese curds (right), along with former Creamery CEO Ken McMahon and Marketing Director Tricia McMahon.
