Bay City man charged with felony reckless endangerment

A Bay City man was charged last week in Pierce County Circuit Court with felony first degree reckless endangerment and misdemeanor battery.

Howard R. Hanson, 36, W5590 CTH EE, is looking at a maximum penalty, if found guilty, of $25,000 and/or 12½ years prison for the Class F felony. His next court appearance is a 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, preliminary hearing.

According to the criminal complaint, Pierce County Sheriff's Dispatch was notified of a one-vehicle rollover Oct. 31 on EE, north of Bay City. Upon arrival, sheriff's officers found Hanson walking in the ditch and stumbling all over the place. Hanson told officers he had been drinking and was involved in the accident. When asked if anyone was with him, Hanson said his wife was and she had been driving. However, he had no idea where she was and thought she might be at their house, so he started walking in that vicinity.

The wife notified dispatch of her location and officers drove to that point. The wife then told officers her side of the story.

They had been at a party, where both had consumed alcohol, she told police. While out on the front deck, Hanson was arguing with his wife in front of several other people. He then shoved her.
