Only incumbents file for local offices so far
Candidates are currently able to file for available municipal and school seats in the spring election, including those in Ellsworth.
For Ellsworth Village Board, only the four incumbents with expiring terms indicated interest in participating in the election, as of Tuesday. Trustees Neil Gulbranson and Kenny Manfred had returned nomination papers, while Village President Gerald DeWolfe and Trustee Curt Wandmacher had returned their declarations of candidacy, but not papers.
For Ellsworth School Board, no one had filed a declaration of candidacy as of Dec. 19, the last day of school before the holiday break. Incumbent Board Members Gerald Bristol and Sheldon Johnson have expiring terms in the spring.
The deadline for filing candidacies for the election on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, is next Tuesday at 5 p.m.
