E-PC boys' take second in Dunn County Indoor

MENOMONIE -- Menomonie's bigger boys' track and field team was able to easily win the Dunn- Count Indoor Meet last Tuesday at Menomonie High School.

But Elmwood-Plum City boys' squad was able to edge out several fellow Dunn-St. Croix squads to take second place.

Menomonie finished with 138 points and E-PC was second with 83 points. In third was Elk Mound with 70 points, Colfax with 19 and Boyceville scored 18 points.

The Red Devils won both relay races, the 1600-meter and the 3200. The winning time in the 1600 was 4:03.80 and the winning time in the 3200 was 9:46.90. The 1600 team is made up of Alex Gilles, Tyler Hines, Tim Talford and Gabe Rodriguez. 3200-meter team members were Gilles, Talford, Jordan Jones and Nick Zopp.

Other place winners for E-PC were a second and third by Tim Wayne and Jesse McKune in the 40-meter dash; a fifth by Lance Von Holtum in the 300-meter dash; a third, fourth and fifth place showing by Rodriguez, Talford and Von Holtum in the 400-meter dash; a second, fourth and sixth place finish by Shane Meyers, Jones and Zopp respectively in the 800-meter run; a fourth by Travis Bee in the 1600-meter run; a second and third by Nick Kernstock in both hurdle races; a fifth by Hines in the high jump, a third and fourth by Von Holtum and McKune in the long jump, a third by Kernstock in the triple jump and a third by Ben Bechel in the shot put.

Elmwood-Plum City's girls' track team finished fourth in the girls' standings. Colfax won the meet with 105 points followed up by Menomonie with 85.5, Elk Mound 47, E-PC 46 and Boyceville 30.5.

Amanda Daleiden had a pair of first place wins in both the 40 and 300 dashes. Daleiden's time in the 40 was 5.9 seconds while she ran a :47.5 second time in the 300. Teammate Sarah Claflin placed sixth in the 300 and fourth in the 400 and also took fourth in the 50-meter hurdles.

Becky and Abbie Hartung were both place winners in the 800 and 1600. Beck finished second in both races while Abbie was fourth in the 800 and third in the 1600.

Elmwood-PC is off until their first outdoor meet which is April 14 at Baldwin-Woodville.
