PC man charged with child pornography

A Plum City man was charged Tuesday in Pierce County Circuit Court with possession of child pornography, a Class D felony that carries a maximum penalty of $100,000 and/or 25 years prison, if found guilty.

Luke J. Hofmeister, 28, W1266 355th Ave., will have his next court appearance 10:15 a.m. April 21 on a preliminary hearing.

According to the criminal complaint, investigation by a Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agent revealed that a computer at that residence was being used to facilitate the possession of known child pornography.

DCI agents, along with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at Hofmeister's address Monday afternoon. Hofmeister admitted to agents that he may have an addiction to child pornography, but denied ever having sexual intercourse with a minor. He also stated that the computer located in his bedroom would possibly contain child pornography, but offered a "no comment" when asked if he downloaded or viewed child pornography.
