Cancer Run-Walk teams now being formed

Area residents will again have the opportunity to participate in the American Cancer Society's Run-Walk of Pierce County.

The Run-Walk is a non-competitive pledge-based event where participants run or walk a designated course to raise money to eliminate cancer.

Enthusiastic citizens will have three opportunities to participate in this event to support the cancer society:

  • Friday, July 10, at the Plum City Legion Park, Plum City. The walk will begin at 5 p.m., with a live auction starting at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 25, at the Pierce County Fairgrounds, Ellsworth. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the walk starting at 8:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 22, at the El Paso Bar and Grill, El Paso. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the walk starting at 8:30 a.m.

Funds raised from the Run-Walk help the cancer society save lives through expanding research, providing greater access to cancer information, passing legislation to protect public health and providing access to health care, and offering programs and services to cancer patients and their families.

Individuals who would like to participate in one or more of the events can contact the following volunteers to receive fundraising materials:

    • Plum City Walk, Amy, 647-2401.
    • Ellsworth Walk, Karen,
    • El Paso Walk, Renee, 778-5545.
    • Any of the three Pierce County Walks, Kellie Burrows, 1.877.423.9122, ext 216,

Volunteers are also needed to help plan the event and help the day of the event.
