UPDATE: Identity revealed of motorcyclist who died

A 54-year-old Menomonie man died Sunday on 550th Avenue in Menomonie Township when the motorcycle he was riding struck an embankment.

Douglas R. Olson was eastbound on his 1986 Honda motorcycle when it went off the road and struck the embankment. He wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Dunn County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Dennis Smith said Monday that the initial information reported, that Olson was struck by a truck at the location was inaccurate. He added that the sheriff's deputy doing the follow up investigating of the crash is still trying to determine what happened.

Also, in the initial news release, it said the truck was located and the driver was arrested. Smith said that information was incorrect and that a person who had been operating a truck was at the scene, and was arrested for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Smith mentioned that the crash is still under investigation and no further information is available.
