Milwaukee mayor undergoes surgery on hand, face
The brother of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he had to undergo three hours of surgery to repair his hand.
Barrett got stitches in his head and needed plastic surgery to fix a cut running from his cheek to his nose.
Barrett is home from the hospital, being hailed as a hero.
He was beaten when he tried to intercede in a domestic dispute on his way out of the Wisconsin State Fair last Saturday.
John Barrett says his brother lost some teeth in the assault.
He says Anthony Peters pulled a gun on the mayor before beating him with what was described as an extendable, police-style baton.
