Food, fun, festivities in SV with Dam Days
SPRING VALLEY--Community celebrations and festivals in the area wrap up for another year when Spring Valley hosts its 42nd annual Dam Days Sept. 18-20.
Scheduled events include a fun run, the Dam Days bicycle ride, horse parade, classic car show, sawmill demonstrations, the Sunday afternoon parade and the coronation afterwards.
The activities begin Monday, when the first treasure hunt clue is announced at 9 a.m. at Spring Valley Drug. One clue will be posted daily at that time until Saturday, when clues will be announced at 9 a.m., noon, 3 and 5 p.m.
The prize is a 2008 United States silver proof set of 14 coins and the winner must have a Dam Days button.
Friday, Sept. 18
The evening activities begin at 5 p.m., when food stands open, featuring the Lions' Club hamburgers and the Snow Valley Riders brats and chicken. It also opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Also at 5 is a free five-bike raffle on the Hwy. 29 recreation trail. The drawing will be at the Spring Valley Health Care Center and one must be present to win.
