Pierce County UWEX sending renewable energy message to builders
It's time to get on board the renewable energy bandwagon, according to a Pierce County UW-Extension agent.
In fact, it's way past time, Resource Agent Darien Simon said Thursday.
Toward promoting a wider interest in alternative energy, using energy efficiently and the savings that can be realized, the UWEX offices here and in St. Croix County have teamed with the St. Croix Valley Home Builders Association for a couple of upcoming educational events, Simon said.
"When you save energy, your energy bills are going to go down," she said about a bottom-line reason to do related projects, besides helping the environment.
Two events are planned, one for contractors and the other for the public, the resource agent said. The first, tentatively set for early January in River Falls, will educate contractors on what monies are available and how to help their customers get it. The half-day session will provide them assistance in filling out tax forms and with continuing education units. The second will be an extension presence at the association's annual home show in March, where speakers will offer energy-saving ideas to the public.
