The Golden Eagles jumped out to an 18-to-5 lead by hitting four shots from beyond-the-arc. They were up by 23 at the break, and Rutgers got no closer than 14 in the second half. Five Marquette players scored in double figures, led by Darius Johnson-Odom and Jimmy Butler with 16 apiece. Maurice Acker made 4-of-5 from three-point range, and he's now shooting 78-percent from beyond-the-arc in Big East games with 18-of-23.
Lazar Hayward had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and he became just the third player in Marquette history to have 16-hundred career points and 800 boards. Don Kojis and Bo Ellis are the others. Mike Rosario scored 16 for Rutgers, which dropped to 0-and-8 in the Big East Conference and 9-and-11 overall. The Scarlet Knights have now lost 24-of-their-last-26 conference games.
