Vikings make roster moves, release training camp schedule
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The Vikings released their practice schedule for training camp in Mankato, which starts with a single session on the afternoon of Friday, July 30th.
They'll have two practices the following day and one on August 1st before starting their two-a-day regimen. The only day off is scheduled for August 8th, with game week preparations beginning the following day for the Vikings' preseason opener on August 14th at Saint Louis. The Vikings break camp two days before the game against the Rams. The remainder of preseason practice takes place at Vikings headquarters in Eden Prairie.
Former University of Minnesota defensive lineman Cedric McKinley was waived by the Vikings yesterday. McKinley joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent after four seasons playing for the Gophers. Also waived was center Tommy Hernandez, while the Vikings claimed wide receiver Marko Mitchel off waivers from Detroit. Mitchell is now with his third NFL organization after playing college football at Nevada-Reno. He was taken in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by Washington, but was waived just a month later. The Lions let him go last week.
