Twins find themselves in tight AL Central race

The AL Central race is tighter than ever, with one game separating the top three teams. The Twins open a three-game series at Toronto and find themselves a half-game out of first place in the AL Central after the Detroit Tigers beat Baltimore 12-9.

The Twins are also just a half-game ahead of third-place Chicago, which beat the LA Angles 9-2 in Anaheim. On the mound for the Twins tonight is Carl Pavano, who has won two of his last three starts, pitching complete games in both of the victories. Starting for Toronto is Jesse Litsch, who's still searching for his first win of the season. The Twins are playing their 83rd game of the season tonight, and they have a record of 44-38. The Blue Jays are 41-42, with one of those wins at the expense of the Twins.
