Wild name Wilson new assistant coach

ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Wild named Rick Wilson to an assistant coaching position. Wilson was most recently the associate head coach of Tampa Bay.

Prior to that he was with the Stars organization dating back to the franchise's days in Minnesota. He was a North Stars assistant in 1992 and 1993. He was on the staff of the Dallas Stars when that club won the Stanley Cup in 1999.

He also was an assistant coach for North Dakota from 1978-80 and part of the coaching staff of the 1980 Fighting Sioux national title team. He played college hockey for North Dakota and played in 239 NHL games with Montreal, St. Louis, and Detroit.
