State golfers compete in Phoenix Open this weekend

PHOENIX - Three Wisconsin golfers are playing in the PGA's Waste Management Phoenix Open - which was delayed this morning because it was too cold.

It was only 29 degrees in Scottsdale at 7:20 local time. The afternoon high is supposed to get to 50, so they delayed the start of play until just after 11 Wisconsin time. Jerry Kelly of Madison is in the field, along with Pewaukee native Mark Wilson and Appleton native J.P. Hayes.

Another hard freeze is expected tomorrow morning near Phoenix before it warms up for the weekend. The senior Champions' Tour and the LPGA women's tour are both off this week.
