Budmayr injures arm in Badger practice

MADISON - The battle for the starting quarterback job at Wisconsin has taken another turn. Jon Budmayr did not throw during practice for the Badgers Wednesday, because of pain in his right elbow. His elbow first started bothering him Tuesday.

Budmayr has been fighting to win the starting job against transfer Russell Wilson, who has opened eyes with a good performance in camp.

Budmayr suffered similar elbow pain when he was a freshman in 2009, and needed surgery that left him out for two months.

One of the high-profile recruits for the Badgers football program is

participating in a high-profile camp for some of the best quarterbacks

in the country. Bart Houston of De La Salle High School in Concord,

California, was invited to participate in the "Elite 11" camp. The

participating quarterbacks will compete in several skill competitions.

Sports oddsmaker Bodog has predicted the Wisconsin Badgers will win nine games during the upcoming regular season--or predicted, at least, that the average bettor will expect nine wins from the Badgers when they lay down their money. The over-under on Badgers wins is nine--more than all but one team in the Big Ten. Conference newcomer Nebraska has an over-under of 10 wins. Ohio State is also pegged at nine victories.
