Work continues to clean-up Red Cedar from truck accident

MENOMONIE - Divers are said to be still working to clean up the chemicals spilled into the Red Cedar river March 5th when a tractor-trailer truck slid off snow-covered Interstate 94 in Menomonie.

The driver and a passenger in the big rig were killed. That truck was carrying almost 12 tons of fertilizer, a herbicide used for killing crabgrass. The whole cargo of almost 600 bags was dumped in the river.

Some of that cargo is trapped under ice. Workers say they will get more of it out of the water when the ice melts. They're worried about the spilled diesel fuel, too. No fish kill has been reported so far.
