Love's season is over as he will have knee surgery

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is going to have season-ending surgery on his left knee.

Love will miss about four-to-six weeks after an arthroscopic procedure to remove a buildup of scar tissue. Love has played just 18 games this season, averaging 18.3 points and 14 rebounds.

The 24-year-old has missed Minnesota's last 47 games recovering from surgery on a broken hand back in January. He fractured the same hand during a preseason workout.

Timberwolves center Nikolai Pekovic is the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played April 1st through 7th. It is the first honor of his career and the Wolves' first since January of 2009. Pekovic averaged 25 points and eight-and-a-half rebounds as Minnesota went 3-and-1 last week with wins over Boston, Milwaukee and Detroit. His 20 points and 13 rebounds versus the Pistons Saturday night helped Wolves coach Rick Adelman earn his one-thousandth career victory. Pekovic leads Minnesota with 26 double-doubles this season.
