Fire destroys Ellsworth home Sunday

Ellsworth fire fighters work at the scene of a house fire in east end Sunday afternoon

The Ellsworth Fire Department was called to a house fire around 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 523 Railroad Avenue in east end which, according to county records, is the property of John H. and Lois M. Dodge.

The three-story structure was totally destroyed. An unofficial report at the time of the initial call indicated fire was visible on the home's exterior. The house is west of and set back from Railroad Avenue by a somewhat long driveway, and is across from the Ellsworth Storage self-storage units.

Besides the EFD, the Ellsworth Police Department was at the scene on the village's far northeast side.
