Brewers finally bring losing streak to an end
PHILADELPHIA - Jonathan Lucroy went 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs as Milwaukee outslugged the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5 Friday night. The win ended a six-game losing streak for the Brewers, who finished the month of May with a 6-22 record, tying the club's worst-ever monthly performance.
Yovani Gallardo started bad, but pitched almost six innings to earn his fourth victory and break a personal losing streak at four in a row. Francisco Rodriguez was good for his second save. The Brewers won despite two homers by Philly outfielder Domonic Brown. Jimmy Rollins also had a home run. Cole Hamels absorbed his ninth loss in 10 decisions for Philadelphia. The Phillies send Tyler Cloud to the hill for today's game.
Milwaukee will counter with right hander Mike Fiers, who has a record of 1-3 and an earned run average of 6.62.
