B-W going for back-to-back state softball titles tomorrow night

MADISON - Kenosha Bradford will play Stevens Point, and Menomonee Falls will face Westosha Central in the Division 1 semi-finals tonight at the state high school softball tournament.

All four teams advanced yesterday, after winning their quarter-final contests at Goodman Field. Kenosha Bradford edged Oshkosh West 1-to-nothing on an RBI-single by Emily Hastings. Stevens Point eliminated Germantown 3-2 in eight innings, as the winning run scored on an infield error. Westosha Central of Salem advanced with a 6-0 win over Sun Prairie. Kayla Konwent homered and drove in five runs for Westosha. Menomonee Falls had a 1-0 victory over Appleton East. Maddie Eikenmeyer tripled in the top of the ninth, and then scored on an error.

In Division 2, Baldwin-Woodville and New London advanced to tomorrow's championship game. Baldwin-Woodville, which is going for back-to-back titles, eliminated New Berlin West 9-0 in last night's semi-finals. Katie Thompson went 3-for-4 with three RBI's. New London blanked Monroe 6-0 in the other semi. Shelby Sommer tossed a four-hitter for New London.

Semifinals will be played today in two other divisions. The Division 4 semis start at 9:05 this morning. Wausau Newman plays New Lisbon, and Shell Lake takes on Algoma. In the Division 3 semis this afternoon, defending champ Stevens Point Pacelli faces Mineral Point. And Grantsburg goes against Kenosha Saint Joseph's.
