Area track and field: Double victories for E-PC

The Elmwood-Plum City boys and girls teams braved poor weather conditions to both finish in first place Friday at the Durand invite.

"It's always fun when you are running in freezing rain," E-PC coach Rick Stewart said sarcastically.

Official times were not available but Stewart did know the places that his athletes took.

Alex Gilles was named the track athlete of the meet. He took first in the 400-meter dash and was on the first-place winning 4x400 team along with classmates Lance Von Holtum and Tyler Churchill.

"He had a heavy week of workouts and will start to see his times drop in the next couple weeks," Stewart said of Gilles.

Von Holtum was the lone Plum City student on the victorious 4x200 team and he won the long jump.

Churchill placed first in the 300 hurdles and the triple jump.

As for the girls, Marah Boyer was named the field athlete of the meet. She won the long jump and the triple jump. Boyer and classmate Heather Von Holtum were on the victorious 4x200 relay team.

Freshman Sarah Gilles won the 100 and 300 hurdles. Gilles and fellow Plum City student Elaina Danzinger were on the first-place 4x400 team.

E-PC travels to Clear Lake on Tuesday.
