Schaffhausen’s three murdered daughters' artwork will be sold to raise money for a playground

RIVER FALLS - Three young girls killed by their father in River Falls had made over 100 pieces of artwork – and they’ll be sold to raise money for a playground in their honor.

A news conference will be held Thursday in River Falls, where the girls’ mother – Jessica Schaffhausen – will describe the playground project along with its developer, Unlimited Play of Saint Louis. About $80,000 has been raised so far, just over half of it from a 5-K run-and-walk held in River Falls last month. The playground is expected to cost around $550,000.

It will be a seven-thousand square-foot facility, based on what Amara, Cecilia, and Sophie Schaffhausen liked to do. The three were murdered last July by their father Aaron, who was recently given three life terms with no chance for a supervised release. The girls’ artwork will be shown Friday at a River Falls art gallery. A silent auction will then take place through August 21st.
