WISCONSIN NEWS BRIEFS: One person dead after police shooting in Madison

MADISON - A police officer-involved shooting in Madison leaves one person dead.

Madison police say no officers were injured in yesterday afternoon’s shooting near the city’s West side. Police say the incident happened just after 3 o’clock, when they responded to reports of a man with a weapon. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.


The Outagamie County public safety committee have recommended several emergency officials be disciplined or even fired for last week’s storms that came with no warning. Emergency Management Director Julie Loeffelholz and several other officials are on the hot seat, accused of failing to sound emergency sirens during storms on August 7. The powerful storms across Northeast Wisconsin knocked-out power to over 60,000 customers and is blamed for one death and several injuries. The committee also accuses the sheriff’s department for failing to maintain the county’s main communication tower near Black Creek.


A Wisconsin man with a very unusual name is facing drug charges in Iowa. 32-year-old Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop, or Beezow for short, faces felony drug charges from a July 20 arrest in Washington County, Iowa – he’s been in jail since the arrest. In 2012, Beezow was arrested in Madison for drug possession. The arrest brought national attention from all mediums, including late-night talk show hosts, because of the name.
