UPDATE: Cause of death announced in Hager City case

The cause of death on the 25-year-old Hager City woman who died Sunday evening was announced Friday by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Amber Lynn Pick died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Sheriff's Department announced in a news release.

The release said officers responded to W8081 164th Ave., around 7:15 p.m, for a welfare check after receiving calls from her family. While officers were en route, subsequent calls were made to the communications center, stating they heard a popping sound from that address.

Upon their arrival, they found Pick deceased and alone in the house. Ms. Pick was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy was performed.

The Sheriff's Department said they were assisted by several agencies in Wisconsin and Minnesota during the investigation into the incident, including Red Wing police, Goodhue and St. Croix County deputies.
