MINNESOTA NEWS ROUND-UP: Plane crash near Caledonia kills three

CALEDONIA, Minn. - Three people were killed yesterday afternoon, when a twin-engine plane crashed near an airport in southeast Minnesota.

The FAA said the plane flew from Troy Michigan, and was just about to land at the Houston County Airport near Caledonia when it crashed about a mile away.  A farmer called 911, saying he believed a plane went down in his field.  One person survived, and was taken to a La Crosse hospital.  There was no word on the person's condition.  The other three bodies remained at the crash scene last night, and their names were not immediately released.

Houston County sheriff's officials said the six-seat plane may have went down an hour before the farmer noticed it.  The first rescuers were called around 4:30 in the afternoon.  The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to start investigating the crash today.
