WISCONSIN NEWS ROUND-UP: Pres. Obama to visit Milwaukee Thursday

WASINGTON D.C. - Following his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit several U.S. cities, including Milwaukee on Thursday.

While additional details into his visit has not been released, officials say the President is focused on helping people on long-term unemployment. President Obama is scheduled to give his address on Tuesday. Other cities he plans on visiting includes Pittsburgh, Nashville and the Washington suburbs of Prince George’s County, Maryland.


A central Wisconsin probiotics company has announced plans to expand. UAS LifeSciences in Wausau plans to expand its 15,000 square foot building to 45,000 square feet, adding an undisclosed number of jobs to the area. The company currently employs about 36 workers. The expansion is expected to be completed by April.


Authorities in southwestern Wisconsin say a man died yesterday after he fell and hit his head on an ice-covered street. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year-old Douglas Halverson, of Mifflin, was reportedly on his way to do some ice fishing when the incident happened after 2 P.M. Authorities say bystanders performed CPR when they found him unresponsive and not breathing. He was taken to a Dodgeville hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
